Phils 50th Folly

1) 9:00am Optional Event

This is for the intrepid few who would like to work with Phil for the day on constructing the ‘folly’; the definition of which is referred to (but not constrained to) ‘an unprofitable undertaking resulting in an extravagant building erected to suit a fanciful taste’.

What should you bring? All optional, Earmuffs and glasses might be helpful,Toolbelt/hammers and drills might be useful. Probably don't need to bring the lathe :)

The modicum of operation for this will take the form of a team-based ‘scrapheap challenge’ to construct a creation using any and all materials that take your fancy.

Folly 1 - A Rock lifter and carrier

"Since the ancient of days, humans thought rocks were badly placed.
Its time to shift them."

Rules

Rocks the size of a quarter of a bath need to be lifted.
Need to not ruin the glorious grass and high-quality paddocks

Judging Criteria

Largest rock lifted
Ability to be towed behind ride-on mower
Can be operated by single person
Robustness
Use of donated scrap
Bonus Points: Using things from the farm, that Sue would prefer to have in the Skip.

Folly 2 - Every good farm needs a contraption

"Gates open and shut by themselves, windmills turn, ..."

Folly 3 - Art adds to beauty

"There is no guarantee art will not be donated to a good cause."

Donating Criteria

Send an email with a picture/description of your scrap donation early
Someone is more likely to use it in a folly, if it comes with an inventive description
Only once you are advised someone will actually use it, please arrange drop off/pick up by Phil

Judging

Judging Instructions

Each person has 5 'tally marks' for each folly category (Total 15)
Beside each folly there should be a board, with a pencil to scribe your tally marks
So by example you could give all 5 marks to one entry, or 4 to TeamA and 1 to TeamC.

2) 7:00pm Main Event

For those less adventurous (but possibly more sane) souls, please come at 7 for dancing, supper and importantly, the judging of the ‘follies’.

Dress Code: Folly "which I will leave up to your googling and your wishes", suffice to say anything will be acceptable from drycleaned to grease-smeared.
